HSBC Holdings Plc verleent bancaire en financiële diensten. Het bedrijf is actief via de volgende bedrijfssegmenten: Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets, Global Private Banking en Corporate Centre. Het segment Retail Banking and Wealth Management bestaat uit retailbankieren, vermogensbeheer, vermogensbeheer en verzekeringen. Het segment Commercial Banking biedt bankproducten en -diensten aan. Het segment Global Banking and Markets omvat transactiebankieren, financiering, advies, kapitaalmarkten en risicobeheerdiensten. Global Private Banking biedt diensten op het gebied van transactiebankieren, financiering, advies, kapitaalmarkten en risicobeheer aan vermogende particulieren en families. Het segment Corporate Centre houdt zich bezig met centrale treasury, inclusief balansbeheer, andere legacy businesses, belangen in geassocieerde deelnemingen en joint ventures, centrale rentmeesterkosten en de Britse bankenheffing. Het bedrijf is opgericht op 1 januari 1959 en het hoofdkantoor is gevestigd in Londen, het Verenigd Koninkrijk.
