Het bedrijf is actief via de segmenten Moody's Investors Service (MIS) en Moody's Analytics (MA). Het MIS-segment is een kredietbeoordelingsbureau dat kredietbeoordelingen publiceert over schuldverplichtingen en entiteiten, waaronder diverse bedrijfs- en overheidsverplichtingen, gestructureerde financiële effecten en commercial paper-programma's. Het MA-segment ontwikkelt producten en diensten, waaronder de publicatie van kredietbeoordelingen. Het MA segment ontwikkelt producten en diensten die de financiële analyse en risico management activiteiten van institutionele deelnemers in de wereldwijde financiële markten ondersteunen. Het bedrijf werd in 1909 opgericht door John Moody en heeft zijn hoofdkantoor in New York, NY.

This shows the worst possible loss an investor could have suffered during the respective period, by first buying and subsequently selling the asset at the least favourable prices. For example, if there was the following sequence of daily ETF prices: 10€, 5€, 12€, 20€, an investor would have suffered the worst loss by buying for 10€ and subsequently selling for 5€. Therefore in this case the maximum drawdown would be (5€ - 10€)/10€ = -50%.
