Het segment Raffinage, Transport en Marketing heeft betrekking op raffinage, logistiek, transport en handel in ruwe olie en olieproducten, evenals de export van ethanol. Het segment Gas en Koolstofarme Energie vertegenwoordigt de activiteiten op het gebied van logistiek en handel in aardgas en elektriciteit, transport van en handel in vloeibaar aardgas, opwekking van en handel in elektriciteit door middel van thermo-elektrische centrales, evenals het houden van belangen in transporteurs en distributeurs van aardgas. Het bedrijf werd opgericht op 3 oktober 1953 en heeft zijn hoofdkantoor in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilië.
