SMA Solar Technology AG se consacre au développement, à la production et à la vente d'onduleurs solaires et de systèmes de surveillance pour les systèmes d'énergie solaire. Elle exerce ses activités dans les secteurs suivants : Résidentiel, Commercial, Utilités, Stockage et Énergie numérique. Le segment résidentiel s'adresse aux marchés mondiaux des petits systèmes photovoltaïques (PV) avec ou sans connexion à une solution de maison intelligente. Le segment commercial se concentre sur les marchés mondiaux des systèmes photovoltaïques de taille moyenne avec ou sans solution de gestion de l'énergie. Le segment Utility couvre les marchés internationaux des centrales photovoltaïques avec ses puissants onduleurs de branche de la famille de produits sunny-high power et les onduleurs centraux de la famille de produits sunny central. Le segment Stockage comprend la technologie des systèmes pour l'intégration des systèmes de stockage de batteries de toutes tailles. Le segment de l'énergie numérique comprend coneva, qui développe des services énergétiques numériques pour les particuliers et les entreprises, et emerce GmbH, qui s'occupe des canaux de vente en ligne pour certains marchés. La société a été fondée par Reiner Wettlaufer, Peter Drews, Werner Kleinkauf et Günther Cramer en 1981 et son siège social se trouve à Niestetal, en Allemagne.
