Wie investiere ich in Kryptowährungen?
Kryptowährungen sind unabhängig von konventionellen, gesetzlichen Währungssystemen wie dem Euro oder dem Dollar. Als bekannte Kryptowährungen gelten beispielsweise Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash und XRP. Solche alternativen Währungssysteme regeln das Recht auf Eigentum über den Besitz computergenerierter Schlüssel. Zahlungen werden kryptografisch legitimiert und über ein Netz gleichberechtigter Rechner abgewickelt – ganz ohne Bank. Zur Verwaltung dient eine dezentrale, synchronisierte Buchhaltung, die sogenannte „Blockchain”.Der Kurs einer Einheit der Kryptowährung (oft als „Coin” bezeichnet) zu Fiat-Währungen folgt dem Grundsatz der Preisbildung an der Börse. Neue Einheiten werden durch die Lösung kryptografischer Aufgaben (sog. „Mining”) geschaffen und erfordern hohe Mengen an Energie und Rechnerkapazitäten. Bei manchen Kryptowährungen ist die maximale Anzahl an Coins begrenzt, beispielsweise bei Bitcoin.
Krypto-Assets wie Bitcoin oder Ethereum bieten immenses Kurssteigerungspotenzial, sind jedoch rein spekulativer Natur und generieren im Gegensatz zu Unternehmen keine laufenden Cashflows oder Dividenden. Historische Daten zeigen extrem ausgeprägte Boom-und-Bust-Zyklen. Ein Investment in Krypto-ETPs/ETFs ist daher immer mit erheblich höheren Risiken und Verlustgefahren verbunden als ein globales, marktbreites Aktien-Investment.

Eigenschaften von Krypto-ETNs
Viele Anlegerinnen und Anleger haben begonnen, den Bestand von Kryptowährungen als digitale Geldanlage statt als Zahlungsmittel zu nutzen. Du kannst mit Krypto-ETNs an der Wertentwicklung der jeweiligen Kryptowährung partizipieren, wobei die meisten ETNs große Teile der Investments in physischen Coins halten. In den meisten europäischen Ländern gibt es aufgrund der rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen durch die UCITS-Richtlinien keine Krypto-ETFs. Der rechtliche Rahmen erlaubt es nicht, Indexfonds mit nur einem Bestandteil aufzulegen.Manche Krypto-ETNs bilden einen Korb aus verschiedenen Währungen nach und bieten so die Möglichkeit, mit einem einzigen Produkt in mehrere Kryptowährungen zu investieren.
Eine weitere Besonderheit sind Produkte, die sogenannte “Staking Rewards” beinhalten. Beim Staking werden bereits existierende Coins eingesetzt, um die Erweiterung der bestehenden Blockchain zu unterstützen. Im Gegenzug für die vorübergehende Bereitstellung wird den Inhabern der Coins eine Belohnung gewährt. Im Falle von Krypto-ETNs kann diese Belohnung sowohl in Form einer (unter Umständen bis auf 0%) gesenkten Verwaltungsgebühr als auch anhand eines steigenden Coin-Bezugsanspruchs mit den Anlegenden geteilt werden. Staking ist allerdings nur bei Kryptowährungen möglich, die mit einem Proof-of-Stake-Algorithmus zur Schaffung neuer Einheiten und bei Transaktionen arbeiten. Bitcoin gehört aktuell nicht dazu, Ether seit einer Verfahrensumstellung im September 2022 hingegen schon.
